TAGI Logistics Delivers 350-Ton Transformers for Duyên Hải 3 Extension Power Project
On August 1, 2018, TAGI Logistics completed a key logistics operation for the Duyên Hải 3 Extension Thermal Power Plant in Trà Vinh, Vietnam. Working in partnership with Kwangjin TLS, TAGI was tasked with handling the full logistics scope for 350-ton transformers, including barging, roll-off, and inland heavy-duty trucking.
This project marked another milestone in TAGI’s portfolio of complex power-sector logistics — affirming its expertise in handling high-value, ultra-heavy equipment with safety, speed, and precision.
Complex Management for Oversized Equipment
The project began with barging operations, in which the 350-ton transformers were loaded onto river barges for transport from the port to a near-site landing location in Trà Vinh. This phase required detailed tidal planning, vessel coordination, and risk assessments due to the sheer weight and dimensions of the cargo.
TAGI’s team conducted thorough site inspections and worked closely with barge operators to ensure stability and structural integrity during transit.

Upon arrival at the designated landing point, TAGI executed roll-off operations using advanced hydraulic systems and self-propelled modular trailers (SPMTs). The roll-off maneuver was performed on engineered ramps with reinforced platforms, ensuring smooth, safe discharge of the transformer units from barge to land.
Given the sensitivity of the transformers, every movement was monitored and controlled to maintain balance, prevent vibration, and ensure zero damage.
The final step was heavy-duty trucking from the roll-off site to the power plant’s installation yard. TAGI deployed specialized multi-axle trailers capable of handling the 350-ton load, along with escort teams and traffic coordination with local authorities. Despite challenging road infrastructure and tight delivery schedules, TAGI delivered the cargo safely and on time.
